Well, it’s Wednesday. That means it’s time for my Tarot draw that I was supposed to do yesterday, but didn’t because work fell out of the sky. I am beginning to wonder if I will ever actually be able to get this thing done on Tuesday like I’m supposed to.
Today’s card draw was the Eight of Swords.
The Eight of Swords
The Suit of Swords are associated with action, change, force, power, oppression, ambition, courage and conflict. Action can be both benefical or destructive. In the imagery of the card, we see prisoner in a cage forged of eight swords. The hilt and pommels are fashioned from postilion horns. Before the prisoner we see a judge, complete with gavel and parchment. Beside the judge is a table with surgical instruments. Under the table is a syringe of blood, and two night birds, a male and a female look on.
the Eight of Swords tends to embody the phrase, “Damned if you do, and Damned if you don’t.” In the literal imagery, the prisoner is suffering in his cage, unable to see a clear way out. His options are between the blades, and getting cut, or out past the Judge, to accept the fate in store for him from judgement.
Divinitory meanings include: Crisis, Calamity, Imprisonment. Conflict, Domination, Turmoil. Bad News, Censure, Sickness. Criticism, Slander.
Reversed meanings: Past Treachery, Difficulty. Accidents, Fatality. Disquiet or Depression. Hard Work.
Be mindful of a situation or situations currently that have you hesitant or afraid to act. Even if all the possible solutions are bad, to hesitate to act will only make the possible outcomes worse. Sometimes the lesser of two (or more) evils is the answer.
